1. Install MetaMask
To play in the IFL, you’ll need to use the MetaMask web3 wallet. It’s a browser extension that allows you to connect your wallets to web applications.
MetaMask the only web3 wallet compatible with the web application. Make sure you follow the official links on MetaMask’s website; beware of phishing websites and scams 😊
If you already have MetaMask installed, you can skip this step.
2. Head over to the IFL web application
Once you have installed MetaMask, head over to the IFL web application:
3. Connect MetaMask to the IFL web application
Click the “Connect MetaMask” button on the top-right-hand corner of the web application.
By default, MetaMask connects to the Ethereum network, so you’ll likely be prompted by the application to switch to the Moonbeam network. This is a safe operation.
Once you’ve switched to Moonbeam, MetaMask will ask you to approve the connection to the IFL web application. This is a gas-free and safe operation, you can go ahead and do it.
4. Claim your $IFL tokens
To participate in the Illuminate Fantasy League, powered by Polkamarkets, you’ll exclusively use $IFL tokens. You can mint 1,000 (one thousand) tokens from the web application
Click the “Claim $IFL” button in the top bar of the web application to start the process. It’ll only take a few seconds to receive your $IFL once you confirm the transaction in MetaMask.
You need GLMR to pay for gas fees
To claim your $IFL tokens, you’ll need to use a tiny amount of GLMR to pay for the gas fees. Check out the instructions below on how to get some GLMR if you don’t have any in your wallet.
5. Invite your friends!
The Illuminate Fantasy League is even more fun when you’re competing against your friends, coworkers or other community members.
Create a Group Leaderboard and share the link with your friends. This way, you’ll not only participate in the global leaderboard, you’ll also be able to compete directly with your freinds.
If they’re new to the blockchain and/or to Moonbeam, share these instructions too so that it’s easier for them to get started.
Pro Tip
Ask your friends for their wallet addresses once they have installed MetaMask, and send them 0.1 GLMR so that they can pay gas fees — it’s a very small amount, and it’ll be more than enough for them to onboard Moonbeam and participate in the IFL with you!
6. Make your predictions
You’re all set: go ahead and make your predictions to start earning Rewards!

How to get GLMR
A small amount of GLMR is required to pay for transaction fees. We estimate transactions will cost under 0.05 GLMR, averaging around 0.02 GLMR, so 1 GLMR should be plenty to get you through the entire Illuminate Fantasy League tournament.
There are two main ways to get GLMR:
- Ask a friend or community member! 1 GLMR is not expensive, so you friends and fellow community members might be willing to hook you up. Ask them, and share the MetaMask wallet address that you’ll use in the IFL with them so that they can transfer the GLMR to you.
- Buy on an exchange. Checkout the list of exchanges that sell GLMR on CoinMarketCap, and choose one to purchase GLMR from. Then transfer that GLMR from the exchange to the MetaMask wallet that you’ll use in the IFC.
