In a nutshell
During the Illuminate Fantasy League, powered by Polkamarkets, (the “Fantasy League”, “League”, or “IFL”) a fantasy predictions Tournament will be organised where all Football World Cup matches will be available for the users of the Moonbeam network (the “Users” or “Players”) to predict the outcome of any match, the team rankings in each group, and more.
To enter and place their predictions in the Fantasy League, Players will use a special utility token, the Illuminate Illuminate Fantasy League Token — $IFL Token —, which they can mint for free and that has no monetary value.
Part of the Moonbeam Illuminate Cup Campaign
Polkamarkets Labs is joining the Moonbeam Foundation and other teams developing on the Moonbeam Network in the Illuminate Cup Campaign, a joint promotional campaign exclusively dedicated to engaging and growing the Moonbeam and Moonriver user communities during and around the Football World Cup, taking place between November 20 and December 18, 2022.
In addition to joining the Moonbeam Foundation and other teams in various communication efforts during the Illuminate Cup Campaign, Polkamarkets Labs made available this fantasy predictions tournament based on the Polkamarkets Protocol technological suite, called the Illuminate Fantasy League.
Features developed by Polkamarkets Labs
Polkamarkets Labs will develop a number of bespoke features on top of the Polkamarkets Protocol and Web Application, with the sole purpose of making available the Illuminate Fantasy League. Polkamarkets Labs will:
- develop and deploy a dedicated web application for the IFL;
- develop and deploy a dedicated version of the Polkamarkets Protocol smart contracts for the IFL, including brand new features from the upcoming Polkamarkets Protocol V2 release;
- create a new utility token, the “$IFL Token”, managed by a new smart contract, which will be mintable for free and usable exclusively by the Players within the IFL.
Illuminate Fantasy League Protocol, powered by Polkamarkets
For the purpose of the Illuminate Fantasy League, Polkamarkets Labs will deploy the Illuminate Fantasy League Protocol (the “Fantasy League Protocol”, or “IFL Protocol”), a bespoke version of the existing Polkamarkets Protocol smart contracts. The bespoke smart contracts will include new features: the ability to use ERC-20 tokens in prediction markets (in this case, the $IFL Token) and the ability to use multiple outcomes instead of just binary outcomes.
In the Fantasy League Protocol, only the Polkamarkets Labs team will be able to create and resolve markets, as well as add/remove liquidity to/from markets, solely using $IFL Tokens.
Illuminate Fantasy League Application, powered by Polkamarkets
For the purpose of the Illuminate Fantasy League, Polkamarkets Labs will deploy the Illuminate Fantasy League Application (the “Fantasy League App”, or “IFL App”), a dedicated, custom, version of the existing Polkamarkets Web Application.
The Fantasy League App will be a gateway to the Fantasy League Protocol, allowing Players to easily browse prediction markets, buy and sell outcome shares, manage their portfolio, see and claim their achievement badges (NFTs), consult the Leaderboard and see their own and other Players’ profile pages.
Unlike with the existing Polkamarkets Web Application, Fantasy League App will not allow Players to create and resolve prediction markets, nor to add and remove liquidity to/from markets.
Players can opt to use other blockchain and smart contract clients, such as Moonscan, to interact directly with the Fantasy League Protocol smart contracts.
